The 80's dance moves the one of the most popular and still known dance moves that have been ever done. some of the most known ones are done by Michael Jackson. he's moves broke history and made a new era on how to dance. Some of his most widely known dance moves are the Moonwalk, Thriller, the Robot, toe-stand and the circle slide.

There are a variety of 80's dances that some adults found inappropriate and very offensive. They called it "Dirty Dancin".
Teens in the 80's went to dance clubs and dity danced but adults would separate them or qhick them out. The Lambada, it's not for the faint hearted because this is a super sexy couple dance. The Lambada was made by a Brazilian couple and was widley famous after the movie Dirty Dancing.
In the Lambada you just straddle your partner's thigh and bump and grind. Many high schools that performed dances or had a dance night banned "dirty Dancing" because it was to close to the partner and a shame to who ever girl danced this way.
In the 1980's many varity of dance moves were made and made the 80's a unique era to dancing. Some of the dances from the 80's are still known today and has influenced todays used danced moves.

Art in the 1980's!


In the 1980s the AIDS virus had a huge impact on many artists lives and careers. Two of the artists who were affected by AIDS were Keith Haring and David Wojnarowicz. Keith Haring was born on may 4, 1958. in reading, Pennsylvania but was raised nearby in kutztown, pennsylvania. after graduating from high school in 1976, he decided to enroll in the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh, a commercial arts school. He soon relized how talented he was, and started to show off his work at exhibitions. in 1988, Keith was diagnosed with AIDS. in 1989 he established the Keith Haring foundation, and its purpose was to bring imagery and funding to the AIDS virus. Keith died at the age of 31 in 1990.


David Wojnarowicz was born in 1954, at red bank, new jersy. he had a awful childhood brought on by a abusive family, and he had a problem with his own homosexuality. By the age of sixteen he dropped out of highschool and was living on the streets. he hitchhiked around america, and eventually ended up in new york city. he wrote five books, and had many paintings. he was diagnosed with AIDS in 1988. in the year of 1992, he died of AIDS rlated illness at he age of 37 in new york city.


Around the same time in 1987 Andy Warhol, a famous pop artists died at the age of 58 from a routine gall bladder surgery. Warhol became famous worldwide for his work as a painter, filmmaker, record producer etc. One of his most famous pieces of art is his painting of Marilyn Monroe.

Architecture in the 1980s!

Ieoh Ming Pei is a Chinese born American architect. He is considered a master of modern architecture. He won the first Praemium Imperiale Award for Architecture in 1989. Although he was around seventy years old in the eighties he designed The Louvre Pyramid. The Louvre Pyramid is a large glass and metal pyramid surrounded by three smaller pyramids. It is located in the main courtyard of the Louvre Palace in Paris and serves as the main entrance to the Lourve Museum. Another design that Pei designed in the eighties was the Miho Museum. This Museum is located in Kyoto, Japan, near the town of Shigaraki.








Toyo Ito is a Japanese architect known for creating conceptual architecture in which he seeks to express physical and virtual worlds. Toyo has been called on of the worlds most innovative and influential architects. One of his projects in the 1980s was the Silver Hut. The Silver Hut and Toyo was awarded the Architecture Institute of Japan Award in 1986. This work of art shows Toyo great design of symbolism and the exploration of minimalist methods. The Silver Hut was finally completed in 1984.

Introduction of the 1980's


The 1980s was the decade of revolutionary changes in music. there were many developments such as the creation of MTV and the compact disk. The 1980s was a time of major changes in the music industry. Music started becoming more diverse with different genres such as new wave, heavy metal, rap, techno pop, alternative rock etc. MTV revived music video industry that was in decline in 1979. MTV was a big part on why michael Jackson became such a big star. He renovated how music videos became a huge success and more popular.


Culturally during the 80's we saw th collapse of the berlin wall and the break up of what was the USSR. The movie Red Dawn is an example of the break up of what was the USSR. The movie Red Dawn is about the Soviet Union invading the United States and how the civilians fight back to gain their land. This movie shows the national pride made many people fight and wanting to end communism. The 80's was rise of conservatism. In 1981 IUCN published the first World Conservation Strategy (WCS). The three main objectives of the WCS are: (1) to maintain essential ecological processes and life-support systems, (2) Is to preserve genetic diversity on which depend the functioning of the a life-support systems, the breeding programs necessary for the protection and improvement of cultivated plantst. (3) to ensure the sustainable utilization of species and ecosystems which support millions of rural communities as well as major industries.
