Architecture in the 1980s!

Ieoh Ming Pei is a Chinese born American architect. He is considered a master of modern architecture. He won the first Praemium Imperiale Award for Architecture in 1989. Although he was around seventy years old in the eighties he designed The Louvre Pyramid. The Louvre Pyramid is a large glass and metal pyramid surrounded by three smaller pyramids. It is located in the main courtyard of the Louvre Palace in Paris and serves as the main entrance to the Lourve Museum. Another design that Pei designed in the eighties was the Miho Museum. This Museum is located in Kyoto, Japan, near the town of Shigaraki.

Toyo Ito is a Japanese architect known for creating conceptual architecture in which he seeks to express physical and virtual worlds. Toyo has been called on of the worlds most innovative and influential architects. One of his projects in the 1980s was the Silver Hut. The Silver Hut and Toyo was awarded the Architecture Institute of Japan Award in 1986. This work of art shows Toyo great design of symbolism and the exploration of minimalist methods. The Silver Hut was finally completed in 1984.
